Youhong Rory-Elise Kwan (or just Rory on a casual basis) guides their work, especially in storytelling and drawing style, with their passion for mindful and genuine representation of all kinds of people. They want their work to move everyone, but particularly people who rarely see themselves represented in a thoughtful way. She wants her work to help raise a more considerate and open-minded world. Some issues that drive their work include the climate crisis, animal welfare, racism/colorism, queerphobia, and fatphobia.

She also hopes her work will help people find the magic in life. They believe in being aware and active in doing our part for the world, but as humans, we must balance finding happiness for ourselves with facing the problems of the society we live in. It is a balance she struggles with herself, and she hopes that her art can help others find magic, wonder, and light when the weight of the world feels like too much.
